At Yoke, we approach interior architecture as a form of spatial storytelling - an interplay of proportion, light, and materiality that elevates everyday living into an immersive experience. Our work across New Zealand spans the refined urban character of Auckland, the evolving architectural landscape of Christchurch, the alpine luxury of Queenstown and the quaint essence of Wanaka. In each setting, we shape environments that respond individually to climate, culture, and context.
For us, luxury interior design is the thoughtful calibration of architecture, interior and landscape, resulting in an outcome where architecture and interior design converge to create spaces that feel purposeful and deeply connected to the people who inhabit them and the landscape beyond. Working as both architect and interior designers on the project enables Yoke to propose a cohesive language for the project, whilst also considering both disciplines holistically.
This process begins with resolution of the key features of the layout, planning the interior design alongside the first architectural gestures, allowing each volume and space in the house to unfold with clarity and intention. As the framework develops, we collaborate with clients toward an integrated design language that aligns with both aesthetic sensibility and the surrounding environment - whether expressed through urban modernism, minimalist restraint, or a richer alpine warmth. Each interior design choice becomes a cohesive, tactile narrative - considered, evocative, and attuned to its architectural setting.
Projects such as Double Gable, Argyle Street, and Jack’s Point House illustrate the breadth of interior architecture design we practice. From the sculpted alpine palette of Double Gable to the soft contemporary character of Argyle Street, and the landscape-anchored geometry of Jack’s Point House, these works reflect a sensitivity to proportion, material richness, and spatial temperament. Together, they show how luxury interiors can elevate wellbeing and daily rituals.
Whether shaping the quiet drama of a pool space, the intimacy of a private residence, or commercial responses (such as breweries and bars) our approach to interiors centres on durability, beauty, and cohesion. Being deeply grounded in New Zealand gives us an instinctive understanding of its environment- an insight that informs home interior architecture design created to endure with subtlety, clarity, and a sense of belonging.
